Lambs On the Nile

Solving crime on the Nile
everyone doing their part
Poirot is handy
passengers are ready
a sequel's in the cart. 

I wrote it and it's ready to go
it barely steals the plot.
A boat traveling down the Nile
but this one's shipping sheep.
One sheep wants to stop the guy
from packaging them all to eat. 

So he writes to all the crew
asking to be freed 
when they get to the next port
and not be fricassee.
 
Of course the crew's enjoying this
while preparing a party
making sure lamb will be served
while everyone is watching. 

Mary the other sheep
has two lambs with her.

One was wanted for the lunch
his fleece was white as snow
and the other one was not
she needed work to go. 

So Mary chose the spotted lamb 
for sandwiches and such
but said nothing no sound came out
(goodbye would have meant so much ). 

Our story goes forward from there...
 
Poirot arrives
and decides
he would like
some lamb stew too. 

All the sheep just roll their eyes
and bah a bit
while Mary hides
until the ship
an iceberg hits
and all are going down.     

Poirot is dead
authors enraged
and . . .

all the lamb is gone.       

a nihilistic time for sure
not advertised
in the brochure.
