Standing In the Road
Sunday morning in a robe
walking to the road
for the paper
news and weather
sales are getting
slow.
Jesus needs
to come down here
and help us deal with this.
We be having
problems
finding pine cones
and some beer.
Pine cones help
remove the things
swimming
in the blood.
Beer takes care
of anything
conifers
can't fart.
Standing in the road
flapping in the wind
I recognize the
wizened eyes
of grandma
in her den.
Peering out the porch
at me. Wonder how
much she sees
hope her 45
is holstered somewhere
far from us.
Happiness is
having nothing
waiting in the rain
no umbrella
just some fella
texting you
to stand
on one leg
with your mouth open
looking up
to see
chemtrails floating
breakfast coming
down between
those lips and gums
surely helping us
remember
where's the
freaking door
although just standing
here is fine waiting
for some help
to buy fresh eggs
10 pine cones per
we have a mobile store
our neighborhood
has everything
beware the pit bulls though
at night the sounds
will give you fright
it's better
stay indoors.
